Every decision involves the family. At commercial venues, the couple's planner coordinates most day-of decisions. At estate weddings, the family (often the couple's parents, sometimes the couple themselves) is present throughout, and decisions evolve in real time. We're used to this rhythm and plan for it.

Design Process for Estate Weddings
Our estate wedding design process diverges from commercial-venue weddings starting at the first consultation.
Site walk first
Before we propose a palette or scale, we walk the property with the couple (and often a family member who knows the land best). What's in bloom on the grounds this month next year? What's the view from the ceremony location? What landscape elements are load-bearing for the aesthetic — a specific tree, a stone wall, a perennial bed?
Tent or no tent?
Many estate weddings are tented. Tent selection (pole, clear-top, frame, sailcloth) shapes everything downstream — structural points for suspended installations, floor plan, lighting integration, weather contingency. Grounds staff integration
Properties with dedicated grounds staff (gardener, property manager, caretaker) have accumulated knowledge we need. Which lawns tolerate truck weight. Which borders shouldn't be walked through. Where the water spigots are. Where the power is. The staff becomes a collaborator, not an obstacle.
Permit and town coordination
Tented weddings, parking for 150+ cars, amplified music past town-specified hours — estate weddings often require coordination with local government. Multi-day installations
Estate weddings often benefit from multi-day build-outs.
